A few days ago there was this incredible light condition that had me tripping down the stairs, out the door and randomly taking shots while using my other arm to cover the camera from the rain. Somehow I got enough to make a composite. The larger you view this one, the better.

On another note, after waiting to see what would take precedent for this blog, I finally picked an appropriate template. It still feels horribly generic though, so when I find the time I'll actually mold it into something with alittle more intent. Until then...

A few weeks old, so at some point in time it did qualify for the photo a day thing. I'm just happy I managed to pull the colors I've always wanted to pull out of a sunset (otherwise its horribly cliche).

Ok, maybe now I can focus on architecture for the next thirteen weeks...

Admittedly, it's been a roller coaster of ups and downs with this one, but nonetheless educational in terms of web design. Mostly, lessons in file management and leaving room to adapt to (often) changing circumstances. School started a week ago so some parts are a bit more rushed than others (mostly pertaining to content, but hey, not my department).

As for the next few months, I'll be busy with school... =)

This is actually old news. My mom needed a website last summer and I volunteered to take up the task despite having no real knowledge of adobe dreamweaver, but stupidly thinking "hell, it can't be that different from every other adobe product" (i was wrong). Anyways, here it is in all its two day rushed glory (i procrastinated, just like everything else i do).

Well, I bring it up now because its not the first website I've had to make from scratch. Before this one came a different one I had been making for my dad's business shortly before the end of summer. Long story short, I learned the hard way that web design is centered around accessibility to information and not concept design / visual candy. So, now four months later it needs to be heavily revised. This naturally leads to this post, because its impossible to work on a computer and not get distracted. On the plus side, its a lax deadline so I can work at a leisurely pace (which is what break is all about anyways).

This is work from a visual studies seminar dealing with modes of 3D representation, 3D modeling software (notably maya), as well as a high degree of group dynamics. (all of which i assure you were very new and challenging to someone like myself)

If I had to point out my favorite part, it would probably be the iterations (for once).

As a side note, I'm still planning on addressing what studio was all about and making up the lost days for the "photo a day" project. As expected, the family kidnapped me for the holiday season (and all that mayhem).

So I figure I'll be satisfied with myself in regards to photography if I can manage one photo a day during the break. It won't be a series about anything at all really. In this case just the first thing I woke up to this morning.

There's something about a state of sleeplessness and looking through old photos that will always inevitably lead me to throw them into photoshop for the fun of it. Not exactly for any class, although I can hope that maybe it'll tie back into maya somehow (doubt it).

School is effectively in session now since...a few weeks? I'm missing the free time (and the liberty in schedule that came along with it), but it feels good to be preoccupied with a (seemingly) never ending onslaught of projects. That and a house can become a horribly depressing place if you actually live in it for too long.

Update on other stuff

The Invisible Cities sketches aren't gona happen (I found something better to draw, but still too embarrassed to post any such thing yet). The housing projects are still holding my interest, but I'm gona save them for next summer (so i can do them right). For future reference, I'm going to severely limit my use of the words "I will", mostly because its impossible for me to predict my own level of interest in anything belonging to the future.

...and learned how heavily underpaid wildlife photographers are (although I'm sure it's an amazingly rewarding experience). Also, I'm horribly out of practice with zee camera.

If you look close enough, you'll see the snow leopard hiding...just keep looking...you'll see it sooner or later...

I haven't updated for awhile now. Reasons stated below.

1. I just hate turning PDF's into JPEG's (an angel dies a miserable fiery death every time a person does this)

2. I finished my portfolio right after school ended for break and it seemed redundant to post things that might be presented again within a work (a portfolio is itself a work, no?)

3. Lately, I'm busy with a variety of jobs ranging from pushing machines that are twice my weight to developing websites for businesses directly related to whether or not there's food on my table tonight. Sadly, the later seems to be more difficult seeing as adobe dreamweaver bears little resemblance to its sister programs.

4. When I'm not working, and being on vacation and all, I'm desperately trying to put as much distance between myself and this computer monitor in a mixed lifestyle that can only be compared to that of a Californian and daydreamer.

5. Should 1-4 not be adequate reasons, I'm simply being a lazy bastard who as of late has neglected his poor camera.

Projects to come in the near future...

- Personal Housing Project:
Hopefully more on this later as it actually comes into fruition, but basically I want to design homes for people I know in creative landscapes and circumstances. Facebook will most likely become a tool for this.

- Invisible Cities Sketches:
A great little book full of imagination. I figure if I can muster up the courage to sketch a city a day, I'll fulfill a rising urge to draw while providing this little blog a steady flow of update.

Also, on a random note, I'd recommend Man on Wire to anyone who can relate to the notion of wanting to walk a high wire over the WTC towers.

Final for drawing class (Rhino). We were asked to take an action figure and capture it in a scene between whole and pieces. I chose Rei from Eva. I still feel like pushing it forward, but it'll have to wait till summer (and besides, I'm out of ideas for now).

As for the rest, I have my work cut out for me in the next two weeks.

I'm stuck in a bit of a rut for studio right now, so backtracking sounds like an excellent idea. The first is a maping study of an informal and formal performance space. The latter, a diagram for the organization of a performing arts high school.

So, I've started a blog, which means my work is becoming terribly interesting or I'm just making one last desperate stand against the vacuum that is architecture. Hopefully, this will come to focus on photography during the "off season" to break the monotony. As for what I stand to gain from any of this...well...(i really don't know)...but, critiques are well appreciated (especially from those who don't like what they see).

For the sake of background, taken from a scholarship prompt that requested "ten images that that best describe you as a designer". The last five are the same project.

I'll try to update as I go (but no promises).
